History & Mission
SIGAM, the Self Insurance Group Association of Massachusetts, was formed in 1993 as a not-for-profit association serving the workers' compensation self insurance group community. It's mission is to provide educational and informational programs to members, to enable members to pool resources, and to keep members apprised of proposed changes to, administration of, and decisions made pursuant to workers' compensation insurance statutes and regulations.

The 2013 Sigam Annual Meeting and Executive Conference took place on May 8, 2013. The topic was, "New Solutions to Pain Management: Alternatives to the Narcotic/Opioid Epidemic."
Self Insurance Group Community
There are 22 active self insurance groups in Massachusetts and a large number of companies who serve the self insurance groups in various capacities including program administrators, third party administrators, actuaries, consultants, agents, defense counsel, general counsel, investment managers, financial audit and tax firms, and excess insurance companies.
